Yesterday I Took Mounjaro...and I'm Going to Keep Taking It

Note: This would be a good time to remind anyone reading this that I'm not a doctor or medical professional. I'm a guy on the Internet working to live a long, healthy life, sharing my experiences along the way.

I remember the woman at the front desk of my gym disparaging the weight loss of anyone who took a GLP-1.

What she didn't say, but what I heard, was that a GLP-1 wasn't the real way to lose weight.

The real way is, of course, through diet and exercise.

If you had enough willpower, discipline, and strength of character to lose weight the real way, you wouldn't need a GLP-1.

Therefore, any weight loss or health achievements you make while taking a GLP-1 are tainted.

They're artificial.

I had been taking a high dose of Ozempic (for Type 2 diabetes) for over two years.

I didn't see the dramatic weight loss that many other people had seen.

It was only when I locked in on food and fitness in 2024 that I saw significant weight loss.

Last fall I went off of Ozempic, the GLP-1 I had been taking.

I thought I knew what I was doing,

I wanted to prove that I could do it the real way, the right way.

But going from a low of 166 in August 2025 back up to 225 in August 2026 humbled me.

I think for me, Ozempic wasn't the biggest driver in my weight loss.

But it must have enhanced the work I did, whether physically, mentally, or both.

I'm now on Mounjaro 2.5mg and likely will go up after consulting with my endocrinologist.

I changed the site description for robertdomingo.com from
The Long Road to 155 Pounds @ 15 % Body Fat, without using a GLP-1
to
The Long Road to 155 Pounds @ 15 % Body Fat

If you're looking for someone who can help you get to your version of "155 Pounds @ 15 % Body Fat" without using a GLP-1, that's not me.

But maybe you're like me, a guy with health problems, a guy who takes prescription medications, a guy who was never an athlete growing up.

Yes, I take a GLP-1, but if I can get to 155 pounds at 15% body fat (while being over 50)...it's still a worthwhile achievement!

Liking what I see in the mirror again is real enough for me.

Going from XL to M t-shirts is real enough for me.

Having my cardiologist give me a hug about my lab results is real enough for me.

I'll keep writing, and hopefully you'll keep getting value from what I post.

Maybe I won't be real enough for the woman at the front desk of my gym, but maybe I'll be real enough for you.
